how it all began

Factory kicked off in 2012, to begin with in our garages and now work, like lots of people, from home and from a co-working space near Brighton Station. Our first series were for Yahoo Studios and All4, and we rapidly became core suppliers for BBC Bitesize & BBC Teach.

Over the years there’s been a diverse range of factual content created for BBC3, BBC Arts, All4, BBC SE and Sky Arts, as well as a brand new constructed reality series for UKTV, The Dog Hotel. We’ve also dipped our toes into comedy with multiple short series for Comedy Central and All4, our Bad Snappers comedy was a global success and ran for 3 series and was even remade in the UAE. We’re also chuffed to have had many award nominations and won RTS for our Stripped Bare series, and Gay Sex Apps and Me.

But of course - it’s not all been plain sailing. In 2016 co-founder Julie was diagnosed with breast cancer and Lisa kept the business going with the help of the brilliant Factory team. It quickly became clear how little support there is in the TV industry for the sick & the caring. It’s something we feel strongly about. If you do too, then reach out to us. We all need to shout about this.

In 2018 came the Glyndebourne Opera Cup and since then we've never looked back, honing our skills, making brilliant contacts at arts organisations and making the kinds of programming and content that we love - about the arts, creativity and music.
